Alrighty, Philadelphia Eagles fans, are we still all flying high from this past Sunday's boat race victory? Even I will be the first to admit just how surprised I was with the overall ability that this team showed against the Atlanta Falcons.
From the defensive line dominating to a successful offense, it was probably the most enjoyable Eagles game that we have all witnessed in a long time. With that being said, something has to be put in context (I hate being this guy).
The Falcons defense is and has been terrible for a long time. Sirianni had no problems putting into place his game plan against Atlanta, and to be honest, it does not look like he ever adjusted his play calling. They have a much larger task in front of them heading into Week 2 against the 49ers, and that will be a great test to see what this team is made of.
Defensively, they played great. There were some missed assignments and some bad tackling early on, but overall the defense was exactly how we all thought it was going be, good. The offensive line and defense will help keep this team in the game more than be a hindrance, and that is a great sign.
However, the real question is.....Can this offense sustain success? Can this offense produce the same product each week? Unfortunately, I can't answer that, but I can tell you they have the pieces to do it.
Tight End Dallas Goedert looked great, Miles Sanders ran the ball well, and Jalen Hurts looked in command of it all. This team is not so lackluster on talent; they are just short on PROVEN talent. Hopefully, that can change this season.
