Philly fans, with this season starting to turn around and post season hopes start to increase each week, we still cannot forget that the Philadelphia Eagles still have a lot more riding on this season outside of their own record.
After the close out of Week 11, the Eagles have the 8th, 11th and 16th overall draft picks in the first round, with 10 total (so far). Unfortunately, with the Birds’ draft capital being pushed back in slots, the ability to address certain positions with the players that we all want are not available.
For instance, working with thedraftnetwork.com, possible prospects like Derek Stingley Jr, Kyle Hamilton, and Aidan Hutchinson are long gone by the time this team gets to their first pick. Now, with the amount of capital, they can move up or move back, but for this mock draft sake, we are going to say they stay the same.
First the 8th pick and the 11th pick, I have the Eagles taking Andrew Booth Jr. (Clemson CB) and Jordan Davis (Georgia IDL). These names are not only popular in the draft, they have been common picks by the FPF staff. We have gone into detail on both of these players and why they fit what this team is looking for in previous stories, so we are going to focus on that number 16 spot.
16th Overall Pick: Via Colts – The Philadelphia Eagles Select:
Treylon Burks, WR- Arkansas.
Sitting at 16th overall there was still different directions this team could go, but a lot would’ve been a reach at this spot. In here I have the Eagles taken Arkansas’ offensive engine, Treylon Burks. The current junior has both a high floor and an even higher ceiling. Standing at 6’3” and weighing 225 pounds, the Razorback is the big body receiver that the Eagles could use.
Part of the reason I had them taking a player like Burks is because for the most part of the last few seasons they did not need a big body receiver because of the tight end duo that they had. However, with Ertz gone, this team needs another pass catcher. If the Eagles’ selected Burks, having him in the slot, DeVonta Smith as their ‘X’ receiver and Quez Watkins as the ‘Y’- this pass catching core could be a formidable one almost overnight.
With JJ Arcega-Whiteside and Jalen Reagor seemingly being a bust, this team is going to be in great need. Team’s recently have grown wise to knowing that the biggest pass-catching threats are Smith and Goedert, once they are taken away, Hurts does not have many other options.
Fans may disagree with this, but the truth is they could use another target. Now, could they get one in free agency? Absolutely. I would seriously not count out the fact that if Burks or a receiver like Chris Olave or Treylon Burks are sitting there, that this team would not take them.
Would you take? Would you trade up or trade back for anyone? Let us know!
