Eagles and T.J Edwards agree to a 1-year extension.

The Philadelphia Eagles are continuing to lock up their cornerstone pieces of the future in 2021. The Eagles have already extended Josh Sweat, Jordan Mailata, Avonte Maddox and Dallas Goedert for the foreseeable future. Now, they can add linebacker T.J Edwards to that list.

The Eagles and Edwards agreed to a 1-year extension worth up to $3.2 Million dollars, with 2.15 million fully guaranteed. Since Edwards has become LB 1, he ranks 5th overall by pff.com, 5th in run defense and 13th in coverage. The young linebacker is having a huge second half of the season and has really helped his defense transform.

So far in 2021, the third-year linebacker has recorded 176 total tackles, 4 tackles for a loss, 2 QB hits, 1 sack, and now 1 interception. However, what has really made Edwards stand out his ability to play the run. Edwards has been critical in the Eagles defensive ability to stop the run, which they were allowing at an incredible rate.

This team is locking up their talent and so far have made all the right moves for the future. The Eagles have 10 drafts picks, including 3 first-round picks coming up in the 2022 draft. Don't blink, but this team may be a major threat next year.
